After my last 2 posts ‘locked out of my own online accounts’ (during cruise ship travel), & if you are also wondering:
So far I can suggest this list of steps to get you started exploring for an alternate smartphone for travel:
-
have an unlocked cell phone? And/or can you get yours unlocked or buy a new (for travel) phone?;
-
buying an unlocked cell phone?: to use where? Two basic kinds (depending where you travel, might need 2):a. Americas-frequency phones for: N. America, S. America, Central America & most of the Caribbean); &b. “Rest of the World”, which seems to mostly operate with European-frequency phones;
-
is the unlocked phone compatible with eSIMs? (unknown to me: can phone be upgraded/made compatible?);
-
how important for you: the provider’s system security if using eSIMs traveling?; if so, do your research on this.
My Next Step: working thru above list = my own ‘case study’.
After hearing of one particular eSIM service a few times, I will look @ them first.
